Rev Amplification, a high-end Canadian amplifier and effects pedal brand, has released the G4 Black Sparkle distortion pedal.
Development of the G Series overdrive pedals began with the goal of creating an overdrive pedal with a high-quality tone that sounded as if it had been extracted directly from one of the brand’s boutique amp channels.
The G4 pedal is based on a thick, meaty distortion sound reminiscent of a modern high-gain tube amp.
Furthermore, by operating the centrally located Aggression switch, you can toggle between three drive styles—BLUE, OFF, and RED—to adjust the tonal nuances.
The controls—Bass, Mid, Treble, Volume, and Gain—are intuitive and easy to understand, both in name and function.
Depending on the settings of the Drive switch and each control, this distortion pedal allows for a wide variety of sound-shaping possibilities.
Weighing less than 300g, it is extremely lightweight yet features a durable metal chassis; since the input and output jacks are concentrated on the back panel, it doesn’t take up unnecessary space when used alongside other effects pedals.
It is also designed to work exceptionally well with both analog devices, such as amplifiers, and digital interfaces.
It operates on 9 VDC and requires a power supply (sold separately).
It features a true bypass design that routes the signal without passing through any unnecessary circuitry when the effect is off.
