This is a Gibson USA SG Special featuring dot position marks, a binding-free neck, and open-coil pickups.
It features a mahogany body and neck, a rosewood fingerboard, a large pickguard, 490R and 490T pickups, and a wire-T-Tune bridge.
Apart from the absence of neck binding, decal logos, position marks, and pickup covers, the SG Special boasts the same specifications as the SG Standard from the same era, and its light weight and excellent playability are also appealing features.
The metal insert plate for the rear tone control is missing. There are signs of wear (weather cracks throughout most of the body, small scratches and scuffs, scuffs and wipe marks, extensive scratches on the lower body, paint peeling and ring marks on the back of the neck, picking marks, buckle marks, tarnish, pitting, and rust on metal parts and screws, etc.).
Set up upon arrival (cleaning, string replacement, truss rod adjustment, octave adjustment, and string height adjustment). The frets are at a height suitable for playing, and the truss rod has been checked up to 60 degrees in both directions and is in good working order.
